Cameroon: DECISION No. 0540/D/MINSANTE/CAB OF 12 JUNE 2009 TO FIX PRICES IN THE PUBLIC SECTOR OF VARIOUS PRESENTATIONS OF THE FIXED ARTESUNATE-AMODIAQUINE COMBINATION USED IN THE TREATMENT OF UNCOMPLICATED MALARIA

DECISION No. 0540/D/MINSANTE/CAB OF 12 JUNE 2009 TO FIX PRICES IN THE PUBLIC SECTOR OF VARIOUS PRESENTATIONS OF THE FIXED ARTESUNATE-AMODIAQUINE COMBINATION USED IN THE TREATMENT OF UNCOMPLICATED MALARIA

THE MINISTER OF PUBLIC HEALTH,

Mindful       of the Constitution;

Mindful       of Law No. 96/03 of 4 January 1996 on the framework law in the field of health;

Mindful       of Law No. 90/062 of 19 December 1990 on special dispensation to public health facilities in financial matters;

Mindful       of Decree No. 93/228/PM of 15 March 1993 laying down rules for the implementation of Law No. 90/062 of 19 December 1990 granting special dispensation to health facilities in financial matters;

Mindful       of Decree No. 2002/209 of 19 August 2002 organizing the Ministry of Public Health;

Mindful       of Decree No. 2004/320 of 8 December 2004 organizing the Government;

Mindful       of Decree No. 2004/321 of 8 December 2004 appointing a Prime Minister, Head of Government;

Mindful       of Decree No. 2004/322 of 8 December 2004 forming the Government, as amended by Decree No. 2007/267 of 7 September 2007 reshuffling the Government;

Mindful       of Decree No. 2005/3252 of 30 June 2005 on the creation, organization and functioning of the National Centre for the Supply of Essential Drugs and Medical Consumables;

Mindful       of Decision No 0092/D/MSP/CAB of 29 November 2001 fixing the rates of essential drugs and medical devices at the level of the Regional Pharmaceutical Supply Centres and public health facilities;

Considering           the necessity of services.

HEREBY DECIDES AS FOLLOWS:

 

CHAPTER I

 GENERAL PROVISIONS

  1. 1. This Decision fixes, at the level of the National Centre for the Supply of Essential Drugs and Medical Consumables (CENAME), the Regional Pharmaceutical Supply Centres (RPSC) and public health facilities, prices for the various presentations of the fixed artesunate-amodiaquine combination used orally in the treatment of uncomplicated malaria.
  2. 2. As from 18 June 2009, prices of the various presentations of the fixed artesunate-amodiaquine combination used orally in the treatment of uncomplicated malaria shall be fixed in the public sector as follows:

  1. 3. The prices thus fixed may be subject to revision by instrument of the Minister of Public Health based on social and economic circumstances.

  2. 4. The selling price to patients should be displayed publicly in public health facilities.
  3. 5. This Decision shall repeal all previous repugnant provisions.
  4. 6. The Inspector General of Pharmaceutical Services, the Director General of CENAME, the Director of Pharmacy and Drug, the Director of Disease Control, the Director of the Organization of Care and Health Technology, Regional Delegates of Public Health and Managers of RPSC, shall, each in his own sphere, be responsible for the strict application of this Decision.
  5. 7. This Decision shall be recorded and published in English and French wherever necessary.
